Impact of Giving

oncology - solid tumor program

Cook Children’s has dedicated itself to developing a world-class Solid Tumor Program by providing exemplary, compassionate care through its Oncology Center.  The new developments in the program are broken down into three critical parts: clinical staff, research and family support. Clinical staff are essential to growing the program and providing expanded services. Research for prevention and treatment of these types of cancer in children is imperative for these patients. Family support groups will be provided in the evening, along with education for patient families.

carpe (art therapy)

The Creative Artists in Residence Programme was created 11 years ago to give patients freedom to express themselves through creativity. Research has proven that children who are able to express their feelings through art and music cope better and heal faster. Cook Children’s CARPE provides services for patients, siblings and parents. Spending time in a hospital disrupts a child’s life, and CARPE allows them an outlet in which they can reduce stress and share their experience. Services are provided both in the Child Life Zone and at children’s bedsides. In 2016, CARPE saw over 6,700 patients and family members. Since insurance does not cover these expenses, CARPE is funded by generous donors.

If you would like to designate your gift for a specific program at Cook Children’s please call us. We can designate gifts to your desired area of interest or to Capital campaigns.
